Songstresses Louise Brady and Deirdre Duffy met 2 decades ago in the Mourne Road Church choir where both girls shared a passion for singing. They are both from Drimnagh in Dublin and after 21 years their friendship turned into a loving relationship 7  years ago, following the sad passing of Deirdre’s brother. “We think he had a helping hand in bringing us together,” Louise remembers.

It was Deirdre who popped the question to Louise in February 2014 at the couples’ ‘place’, Carton House. The theme of love and laughter was applied to their wedding date which was set for September 10, 2015 in their favourite venue. Their Carton House ceremony was shared with 75 of their nearest and dearest. Once the venue was decided, it was time to sort wedding attire. Louise talked us through their wedding looks. “I got my David Tutera dress from Fiona Todhunter in Old Bawn.” Deirdre got a beautifully tailored suit made especially for her by Jonathon in A Suit That Fits in Pembroke Street, Dublin. The stunning brides began to plan all other aspects of their day once their attire was sorted. “My friend Anna Hendy Hayden who is a florist in The Shelbourne created our beautiful centerpieces, unity candle display and bouquets. She is amazing.”

Romy McAuley from A Beautiful Ceremony officiated the ceremony for the girls and Creative Cakes in Blanchardstown provided their fabulous three-tiered cake. Louise and Deirdre added their own personal touch to their day with some DIY favours and décor. “We made the candy buffet ourselves. I had great fun buying jars and vases and the sweets, of course! We also created the arrangements for the mantelpieces in the fabulous Morrison Room where the ceremony was held.” The day was also sewn up with heartfelt memories of those passed. “Deirdre’s sister in law Noreen lit a memorial candle at the beginning of the ceremony for Deirdre’s dad Patrick and brother Brian who have both passed away."

The day was also full of fun aspects, with the girls working hard to impress their guests. “We named each table after a movie we love and then printed photographs of all our guests and attached them to the back of the movie poster corresponding with the table they were on. The photos were all standing on little heart shaped stands and Deirdre’s niece Aoife painted a sign saying ‘find your face to find your place’. All the guests loved them and took them home as souvenirs.”

For the girls, good entertainment was key to the perfect day, so they booked a band called Voci, to perform. “Bobby, Sabrina and Jim were one of the highlights of the day. They played for us during the ceremony, pre dinner drinks in the grounds of Carton House and then got everyone up and dancing after dinner.”

All of the amazing moments that unfolded throughout the day were captured by Aga from White Tea Photography and recorded discreetly by videographer Brendan from Make My Day Productions.

Looking back, the whole day was extremely special for the married pair, with Louise’s dad’s speech being one of her favourite moments. “The entire day was the best day of our lives.

The ceremony Romy created for us was so special, the wonderful music all day, being able to declare our love for each other in front of our closest family and friends. My dad’s speech also completely blew me away.”

Following a day of love and happiness, the girls flew to Italy and celebrated in the stunning locations; Florence and Lake Garda. Louise and Deirdre will upgrade their civil partnership to a marriage and celebrate with a few drinks with their friends and family.
